I don’t know what are you want to see when access to Megastar’s official website, but to me, I access for only one thing: the movie guide. I have some trouble of viewing this movie guide on the old design of this website, but the new design is really terrible.
Megastar has changed their official website to a full-Flash site, a very good design with some attracted motions. This eye-candy design is full of high resolution video clips of the audiences who going to the room or the cinema system of Megastar. At the homepage, you can show how a couple walk in to the room and go to their seats, and then some other girls enter the room and go to their seats, too. And I think: so what? I don’t know if anyone access to this website just to watch this high resolution video clip, but I don’t have time to do this. All I need is my movie guide, and I have to spend 5 minutes to find out how does the all-new movie guide work. What’s a user experience design!
I know shiet about Flash, I know what I need from a website. I need a RSS link where I can read the news what tells me when will my awaited movie on-screen. I need some friendly url such as http://megastarmedia.net/lich-chieu-phim or http://megastarmedia.net/gioi-thieu-phim what help me easy to access the page that contain the information I want. I need an easy-to-book online booking system to help me order or pre-order the ticket online. This fancy Flash site maybe good, but it doesn’t give me what I want.
Hey, I was lie to tell you I know shiet about Flash. I know Flash can do everything I listed above. So we have a question: “Why didn’t the website’s developer do it?”, and we also have my assumption: “Because Megastar’s managers didn’t know what are their audience want when access their website!”. To know that, they have to use the website, not just click and watch the site. Of course this is just my assumption, but I have my point to say that. What about your?
And I name this case study is The sins of Flash to decrease the usability of a website by increase the interaction of it.
